How to send SMS to email

Trying to send sms-messages to email recipients, but have probably configured the system wrong. Not sure, but will I need the product called SMS - email gateway together with the SMS/MMS Gateway. I have the impression that the SMS-email gateway is just a "subset" of the SMS/MMS product...?

Anyway, it works fine to send an email to an sms recipient, but I'm not able to se the message ID that should be present in the message (according to the description). Replying to this message from the phone, I get "Message Failed" when trying to send. Can't find any traces in the logfiles....
Any suggestions ?

I have the exact same confusion.

I though SMS email gateway was "included" in SMS/MMS gateway but then i saw this in the help page of SMS email gateway:

mcongosto is correct.

The main feature that the separate Now SMS E-Mail Gateway has that the main gateway product does not is that it supports bi-directional SMS to e-mail replies. (If you have less than 20 phone numbers allocated for the gateway, it puts an ID in the outbound message so that if an SMS user replies to the message, they must include an ID code in the reply. If they reply without an ID code, the gateway sends back an error telling them they have to include an ID code in the reply.)

The Now SMS E-Mail Gateway can connect directly to an SMPP server ... or it can use the Now SMS/MMS Gateway as its SMPP server.

The Now SMS E-Mail Gateway has its own SMTP server, so it needs to be on a different PC from the Now SMS/MMS Gateway, or configured for a different IP address on a machine with multiple IP addresses (or the MMSC component of the Now SMS/MMS Gateway could be disabled).

Someday we might build this functionality into the Now SMS/MMS Gateway itself, but the logic in the SMS E-Mail Gateway to match up replies is somewhat complex.
