I'd like to know is there any GPRS modem driver for Nokia 3530? Can you tell me where I can get it?

I've searched the Nokia web site pretty thoroughly, but have been unable to locate a modem driver for the Nokia 3530. Assuming that you have a serial data cable for the Nokia 3530, you should be able to configure NowSMS to use this phone by installing "standard" or "generic" Windows modem driver. Go into the Windows Control Panel. Select "Phone and Modem Options". Select the appropriate option to add a modem, and tell Windows that you will pick the modem from a list. Pick the "Standard 9600 bps Modem" or "Generic 9600 bps Modem". After installing the modem driver, still in the "Phone and Modem Options" area of the Windows Control Panel, look for the "Diagnostics" option to run diagnostics against a configured modem driver. Use the "Query Modem" option to verify that the modem driver is properly configured and the PC can talk to the modem through the configured modem driver. -bn

Hi Bryce, I have a 3530 as well, but I can't seem to get the modem set up as you mentioned. The diagnostics query gives out an error. And trying it out with Now SMS, there's an initialisation error. Please help as I would love to use the software on this phone. The 3530 is similar to the 3510 in terms of hardware and platform.

Hi Vic, I'm not certain that either of these phones have built-in GSM modem support. Based upon the information on-line at http://www.forum.nokia.com, it doesn't look like the 3530 (or 3510 or 3590) have any connectivity support for external devices. I believe the data cables that are sold for those devices are only for "logo manager" type use. You could try connecting to the device via Hyperterminal ... direct to the COM port. If you can type "ATZ" and press Enter ... and get an "OK" response back, then there is hope. -bn |
