The software works fine, but I've trouble with receiving MMS messages. My current test setup uses a Nokia 6210, which interpretes the incoming MMS SMS messages.

What GSM PCMCIA cards could I user instead of the Nokia phone to get things working. There are a lot of PCMCIA GSM cards, but I can't figure out the ones that will not recognize the special MMS SMS messages.

An MMS notification message is encapsulated inside of a WAP push message, so generally any phones that support either WAP push or MMS will grab these messages before forwarding them over the modem link. (The 6210 doesn't support MMS, but it does support WAP push, so the WAP browser intercepts the message.)

I would not expect any dedicated GSM modem device to behave this way. The problem is that the actual phone has other client software that gets in the way and interprets messages, whereas you don't have that problem on a dedicated modem device.

I know I've used an old Nokia PC Card 2.0 PCMCIA modem in the past, so I know it doesn't interfere any. I also know of customers using the Sierra Wireless Aircards (710 and 750 seem to be the model numbers that people are using). There are also some people using the Novatel G100, but there seem to be some issues with that PC card modem (I believe the G100 will work ok, but with the current version of NowSMS it seems to require a special configuration setting).

We seem to have more people using the external modems ... on that front, the Wavecom Fastrack is popular ... but so is the Siemens MC35. It seems that I see a lot more people using the Siemens MC35 than any other dedicated modem
model.
