Hi, I activated my manage alerts email capability and started receiving the emails to my internet accounts. I am puzzled, how does the gateway know to use my SMTP relay host for manage alerts tab? Is that being pulled from the MMSC configuration?

Hi Frank, If an SMTP relay host is defined in the MMSC configuration, then this host is used. If no SMTP relay host is defined in the MMSC configuration, then NowSMS performs its own DNS lookups to perform mail delivery. (Sometimes this works, sometimes it doesn't ... many e-mail servers try to do reverse DNS to validate that the sending server is a "legitimate" mail server ... and depending on your setup, this may not be the case.) -bn

I am all to aware of email rules and methods of operation. I have my "legitamate" mail servers setup and was looking to confirm that the Gateway can talk to them. I was just curious where the SMTP configuration was for Managed Alerts. Thanks again for the clarification! Frank |
