On my default instalation of the NowMMS server v4.11. I dont seem to have a max message size (I do have a max number of messages a user can send).

So given this

Can I set a Max message size allowed (and where can I find the setting)

And more importantly

When I send a MMS Message though the server that is greater than 30k the notification message delivered to the client has a download size set to 30K and not the correct value.

We don't have a setting for the maximum MMS message size. That's a good idea, we should have such a setting. I'll get that added to our enhancements list.

Regarding the 30K value in the notification, you'll see this when content adaptation is enabled.

If after scaling down images, the message is still larger than what the phone indicates that it will support in its UAProf, then the MMS message retrieved by the phone will be an MMS with error text indicating that the message is larger than their phone will support.

If you disable the content conversions, then this setting will be set to the actual size.

Thanks,

But im currently using a P800 and in its UAProf the Max MMS Message size is

300000 bytes

My server does have content conversion (enabled) and thats what im after. But when I send a MMS message that is bigger than 30K the notification says the message size is 30K and When I download it I download 76K worth of Data !

So after the server does the content conversion (and finds nothing to convert) it should report the correct size in the MMS notification of 76K. even if my UAProf said a 30K limit I would not expect the notification to read 30K and the message I download to be 76K.

Hi,

Unfortunately, it doesn't know what size the message will be after content conversion until it knows what type of phone is collecting the message. (And this is well after the notification is sent.)

It sets the message size to 30K in the notification because many phones will silently reject larger messages without giving any indication to the recipient that anything even happened.

Actually P800 supports 300K not 30K of Max MMS Message size.

Hi Yasir,

You are correct.

The 30K that is being referred to comes from the notification message generated by NowSMS.

The MMS notification message goes out over MMS, and NowSMS doesn't actually know what type of phone is going to retrieve the MMS message content until the phone connects in after receiving the notification.

So when content conversion is enabled, if the message is larger than 30K, the size in the notification is sent out as 30K.
