It sounds like the MMS settings may still be incorrect.

Keep in mind that the MMS settings are different from the WAP browser settings. It uses a different GPRS APN, and a different WAP gateway IP.

The relevant MMS settings are:

GPRS APN: orangemms
User ID & Password: not required
WAP Gateway IP: 192.168.224.10
MMS Server URL: http://mms.orange.co.uk/

Sigh ...

Among other places, they can be found here:

http://support.nowsms.com/discus/messages/485/491.html

And specifically the settings for O2 UK can be got from the following link on their web site:

http://www.o2.co.uk/productsservices/ota2/select

Sorry, no idea. Check your manuals. Most Samsung phones have on-line manuals available for download at www.samsungelectronics.co.uk, but I do not see a manual for the E700 on-line at present.

Assuming that you have MMS enabled on your O2 account, you need to reconfigure the MMS settings on the phone. MMS settings and WAP browser settings are operator specific and need to be configured properly for the operator to which you are subscribed.

For Nokia phones, I recommend that people go to a site that Nokia runs, http://www.nokia.com/phonesettings. From that link, you can specify what model Nokia phone you have, what mobile operator, and they will send you the settings over SMS.

You can also use the following link to get O2 to send the settings to your phone with many available phones:

http://www.o2.co.uk/productsservices/ota2/select

It depends on what type of phone you have. I'd suggest first that you consult the manual for the phone, and any documentation available on the manufacturer's web site.

Generally speaking, phones have limited memory space, and saving any items to the phone makes less space available for other items.

The MMS client on the phone might have multiple folders. For example, many phones save a copy of all of your sent messages, which can eat up available space. So check under the MMS client to see if there is a "Sent Items" folder, or any other folders, and delete unwanted messages.

If you need to delete animations of some sort from your phone, and do not know how, then I'd suggest consulting the manual. If the phone let you store them on there, it should let you delete them ... but the user interfaces on different phones can be quite different and quite confusing ... that's why I suggest checking the manual.

Then personally, I'd chuck the phone in the bin.

If the suggestions above do not help you out, then I don't have any further suggestions.

Either the settings are not properly activated in the phone ... or your phone is not provisioned for MMS on O2 (the help line should have checked that) ... or there is something wrong with the phone.

I'd still suspect a settings issue. So I will offer one more suggestion. Try going into the settings and looking at them manually to see if they look correct.

Go into Messages/Message Settings/Multimedia Msgs/Connection Settings/Edit Active mutimedia settings.

Check those settings to see if they match the ones described at the following link:

I have an unlocked Samsung E700 in which I use my Orange contract sim. I would like to use mms but Orange won't send me the settngs OTA because it's not my 'proper' contract phone. Do you know the mms and gprs settings or where I can find them? Thanks

The Orange MMS settings are in the 2nd message of this thread.

You can find a manual for the E700 on-line at the following web site:

http://uk.samsungmobile.com/mobile_phone/sgh-e700/manual.jsp

Pages 86 thru 89 will talk about the area where MMS settings are configured.

There, you need to supply the appropriate settings for connecting to the Orange MMSC. The most important settings are the Server URL, and the GPRS settings for APN and gateway.

For Orange, the Server URL is: http://mms.orange.co.uk/, the GPRS APN is orangemms, and the gateway IP is 192.168.224.10 (and if a port is required, that is 9201).

Hi. I have got an unlocked Nokia 3200 which came for the original owner with an O2 contract but I am using it with an Orange Just Talk sim. This seems to mean that I cannot get delivery reports for SMS texts, as the option for this does not appear where it should do, however it does for MMs. Do you know how I can tackle this problem? Thanks.

Yes, browser and MMS settings are different. The MMS settings for Orange UK are referenced several times in this thread.

The GPRS APN for the browser is orangewap, and the gateway IP is 192.168.71.35.

The Nokia 7600 uses an HTTP proxy (instead of a WAP proxy), so its settings are a bit different than the normal WAP settings. Here's a link to a site that has settings for the Nokia 6600 on O2 payandgo, so perhaps this will help: http://www.mobiledia.com/forum/topic6806.html

Aside from getting the phone flashed with new firmware (which can often introduce more problems than it solves), I doubt that you will get anywhere.

When the big manufacturers sell phones to the operators, sometimes the operators will ask for particular menu options to be removed. I'm not aware of anyway to get the missing options added back other than getting an updated version of the firmware loaded on to the phone.

Are you still able to send yourself an MMS message and receive it properly?

If so, what has probably happened is that your mobile operator uses MMS settings that only allow MMS messages to be retrieved from the operator MMSC. Someone may have sent you an MMS notification bypassing the operator MMSC, and the MMS settings in your phone will not allow you to download it.

You could change the MMS settings on your phone to retrieve an external MMS in such a situation (use the same GPRS APN and WAP gateway IP as configured for the browser), but after you retrieve the message, you'd need to change the settings back in order to interface to the operator MMSC again ... so this is probably not worth doing.

So if it's just one message, and you're receiving other messages properly, I would just delete it and move on ...

I have a Samsung E700 which originally is an Orange phone, but i have inserted my o2 sim card which allows me 300 free messages and free WAP minutes a month, everything runs fine except i cant send photo messages. I have checked the MMS settings and all are correct by the o2 website. Each time i try to send a photo message it says 'service denied'. Has this got something to do with the type of o2 sim card i have got? I have tried another o2 sim card in my phone and MMS has worked. Do you have any suggestions??

Thanks

Most likely, yes.

O2 only allows MMS on certain plans. Basically, they have a real mess when it comes to plans.

My suspicion is that they are trying to get rid of some of the old plans by not allowing people to access MMS on the old plans, thus requiring you to switch over to one of their newer plans.

I don't think Virgin has commercially launched their MMS service yet.

They did just announce it last last week, but I don't think it is commercial yet.
