Hi, I have installed the NowSms/MMs gateway v2008.02.22 , Nokia Pc Suite v6.85.14.1 and Nokia 6120 classic USB connected. I send XML Settings(OMA Provisioning Content ) from web interface.Messages are sended, but always get the error : LastErrorInfo=ERROR - Error waiting for response from modem (2) -- Nokia 6120 classic USB Modem. Because of error NowSms tries to send the message more and more time. Pls help. | |||

Hi, What if you just send text messages? Does this problem only happen with OTA messages? If it also happens with text messages (when you send more than one) ... the Nokia 6120 is an S60 phone, isn't it? Recent Nokia S60 phones have a very bad GSM modem implementation (S40 is not much better). Under many operating conditions, the modem implemenation will fail to return a response that a message has been sent, even though the message has actually been sent! We made a change in updated versions of NowSMS (you can download one at http://www.nowsms.com/download/nowsmsupdate.zip) to insert extra delays when connecting to a Nokia phone as a modem, because so many people are experiencing this problem. Our testing revealed that basically NowSMS was talking to the modem faster than it could comprehend, and our testing showed that a delay of 7-1/2 seconds was required in many instances after sending a message, before the modem could even think about anything else without entering a state of stupor. I could talk you through implementing a setting to force this delay. But in my notes, I see that there is some extra data that we are sending that seems to help keep the modem from entering this stupid state. So the best thing to do is download the update. Actually, the best thing is to use a different device as a modem, but I realize that is not always an option.
