Hi @ll, I just downloaded the trailversion of nowsms and i'm impressed. I'm a student from Holland and i'm want to launch something new in Holland. For my project i want to manupulate the caller id. i checked this forum first before i started this thread. I found out that i need to use a SMSC via SMPP. The Question now is: Where do i get these setting from? My Carrier in Holland is T-Mobile. Ismail | |||

Hi Ismail, I wish it were that simple. As a normal subscriber, your mobile operator (carrier) only lets you send/receive SMS via a mobile device subscription. So you're really limited to a GSM modem in that scenario. SMPP accounts are for higher volume messaging, and there are generally monthly minimum financial commitments required for that type of account. Even in that scenario, usually only the largest messaging providers connect directly to the mobile operators. Most everyone else goes through "providers" (I like to call them "aggregators") who have connections to multiple operators and/or other aggregators. It's a crazy business. You might initially end up going the HTTP route. It's usually cheaper for getting started. A Google search is a good place to get started. Search on SMS Provider and include your country name in the search to get relevant information. Good luck. -bn |
