I am trying to send an MMS with Chinese text content. It works on one of the operator's gateway here but has problem displaying the Chinese text using another operator's gateway. As for the subject header, we are having problems sending it with the Chinese content for both operators. Is there a way to get around this problem.

What protocols are being used? (What is the message flow and protocols at each step?) What character set are you using to encode the Chinese text? I believe UTF-8 is the most universally accepted encoding. -- Des NowSMS Support

I am using the sendmms.vbs script to send the mms. I just passed in the text filename into the script. For the subject header, I have also modified the script to read it from a file instead of passing in the text content. On 2 of the operators service, I managed to get the text content displayed correctly in chinese but the subject header is received with a lot of ??? marks. By the way, both text file and subject content file are saved in Unicode encoding under notepad On the remaining operator, the chinese text content is received with funny characters.

Hi Margaret, For the text issue on one of the operators ... try saving the text file with UTF-8 encoding instead of Unicode (Notepad should give you this as one of the encoding options). For the subject header, you should also be sure to be using UTF-8 encoding. If you are transmitting via a modem (MM1) connection, there was also an issue where NowSMS was not encoding UTF-8 subject headers correctly which was corrected in 2008-03-23. If you are using an earlier version of NowSMS, that could be an issue. How are you connecting to the operator MMSC? -bn
