Hi,

Full Scenraio:
Number of handsets are infected by a virus, where this virus sends SMS messages, to local and internationa numbers, and user is not notified and nothing is stored in sent messages history.
So, the only type of SMS with this attribute is the Class2 SMS.

No, OpCo can't ban these class type of messages from SMS-SC because, the Class2 SMS carries specific SIM card data.

The question: are there any solutions have been deplyoed/applications developed or are there any efforts from researchers and standrads bodies?
Thanks,

Hi,

Are you sure the messages sent by the virus itself are Class 2 SMS? Just because the message doesn't appear in the "sent messages history" on their phone does not mean that there was any special attribute of the message.

This type of situation is difficult to deal with, because ultimately you're looking for patterns of unusual activity or particular keywords in messages once you have identified that there is a problem.

It's really outside the scope of NowSMS, as you're talking about blocking mobile orignated spam. To potentially block that, you need some support in your SMSC for custom message pre-processing so that you can route it through some type of spam filter.

If you're looking for activities from standards bodies ... I think the GSM Association would be the place to look. I'd suggest searching for references to SMS Spam Virus and GSM Association.

If you happen upon any interesting information, it'd be nice if you posted a link to more information for others who might also be curious.
