Are there problems using a UCP/EMI SMSC with NowSMS?

Every time I attempt to send a message, I get the following type of errors in my log file, and no messages are sent.

Hi,

The most common cause for this type of problem is if you do not have a "Sender Address" configured for the definition of the UCP/EMI SMSC within NowSMS.

If you do have a "Sender Address" configured, and you are still seeing this error, I would suggest putting the gateway into debug mode, and e-mailing the log files to nowsms@now.co.uk.

To do this, manually edit SMSGW.INI, and under the [SMSGW] section header, add the statement Debug=Yes. Then restart the gateway, and repeat your attempt to send a message.

Then e-mail SMSDEBUG.LOG and UCPDEBUG.LOG to nowsms@now.co.uk so that we can see what is going on.

Another thought on the UCP/EMI syntax error.

In your message here, I can see that the text of the message is "test", so I suspect that the problem is related to the sender address not being specified.

However, for others experiencing a "syntax error" in the UCP/EMI environment, I wanted to point out another potential problem. In the current (v4.11) release of NowSMS, there are encoding errors in how some extended (accented) international characters are handled when connecting to a UCP/EMI SMSC. If you are experiencing a problem in this area, contact nowsms@now.co.uk for an update that fixes this problem.
