Hi all,

I am looking to set up a system to receive SMS from phones and reply with a WAP PUSH containing a URL. Can NowSMS do this?

I do not want to set up my own GSM modem though, i would prefer to go through a messaging network. would this messaging network need to support WAP PUSh messages to do this?

cheers
DK

Hi DK

We are currently running tests with NowSMS to integrate with our existing platform and we have the functionality you describe in place and working excellently.

MO SMS messages are sent to us via our messaging provider (we have a short code and long numbers), which we then process using our platform. If WAP Push is required, we then send a request to the NowSMS server which then sends a WAP Push or MMS Notification message back to the phone through the same messaging provider. Obviously we have scripts to interface between the different requests required by each platform and the mobile network.

As long as your messaging provider supports the sending of binary messages on the port number required for WAP Push, then there should no problem.

Hope this helps.

DK,

As Matt says, your messaging provider needs to be able to support binary SMS (typically you'd be talking about a provider that supports either SMPP, UCP/EMI or CIMD2 protocols for connecting to the SMSC).
