Hi,

I installed the application on Win XP. I tried to setup an EMI/UCP connection without any success.
The error code is "04" and the message text is: "Message not accepted, message session".
I attached an excerpt from the application log:

Thanks,

Victor

Hi Victor,

EMI/UCP 60 is a essentially a bind/login type of operation.

The EMI/UCP login is failing with an error code 4, which means "Operation not allowed". (The other text "Message not accepted, message session" is literal text that is returned from the SMSC.)

What can you tell me about this other SMSC? Is it on your private network?

In some environments, authentication in the EMI/UCP environment is done by IP address and port, and a bind operation is not required. Try leaving the username and password field blank when configuring the SMSC link in NowSMS. When you do this, NowSMS skips the bind.

Next, try to submit a message, and let's take a look at the UCPDEBUG.LOG to see if that is processed correctly. If it is not, we may need some information from your SMSC provider to indicate why the EMI/UCP login (60) is failing.

Thanks very much,

I can tell you that the SMSC isn't on my private network. I access this SMSC over the Internet. I have an Large Account Short Number without password, also there are restrictions like 'Application IP Address', 'Application Originator Port'=the TCP/IP port used to initiate the connection to the SMSC and 'Application Listen Port'=the TCP/IP port used to listen for messages from the SMSC.
Can you help me more?
I'll do what you sugested, but next Monday.

Thanks again,

victor

Hi Victor,

Since you have no password, and they are authenticating you by IP address and port, it sounds like the bind operation is not required. Leave the username and password field blank, and NowSMS will skip the bind (no UCP/EMI command 60 is sent).

"Application IP Address" is the IP address of your PC.

"Application Originator Port" is the "Local Port" setting when you define the UCP/EMI connection to NowSMS.

"Application Listen Port" is the "Receive Port" setting when you define the UCP/EMI connection to NowSMS.
