I am using Nokia 7250 and tried to send some OTA settings to it by using http://myserver/?PhoneNumber=1234567&OTA=test I put a file called test.ota in the server's OTA folder. The file itself is sample configuration from the help file that comes with NowSMS. No settings arrive into the phone as if it is dead. OTA WAP bookmark works though. I know that 7250 is capable of receiving OTA configuration settings. ANy ideas on what may go wrong? I am assuming NowSMS encodes OTA file (which is plain XML text file) into binary XML for send. Should I have encoded OTA file to binary XML first? | |||

NowSMS encodes the file into the appropriate binary XML. What happens if you try to use the web form to send an OTA, does that work? Let's start troubleshooting with getting an OTA sent from the web form, and then we can move to the other approach. -bn | |||

actually no matter what I do from NowSMS OTA configuration form, neither my nokia 7250 nor T68 receives any configuration info. I wonder if they are even capable of OTA configuration or may be my provider filters OTA browser-settings messages??? | |||

Are you able to send a WAP push message to the phone without any problems? If you can't send a WAP push message either, then there could be a problem with binary messages through your provider. What type of connection are you using for your provider? If the WAP push message arrives ok ... then please send an e-mail to nowsms@now.co.uk. We made some minor changes to the OTA format in the v4.20 release, and we did find one system where OTA is not working after the changes. I can send you an update that goes back to the pre-v4.20 OTA. -bn | |||
