Can Now SMS use multiple SMSC links for splitting the traffic or for having a back-up link in case one SMSC-connection is not working?

Multiple SMSC links that split a load are not a problem. You can define as many as you like.

To restrict a message to a particular SMSC (or a particular group of SMSCs), you can do this by defining recipient address patterns that are routed through the SMSC. If a recipient address matches a pattern defined for any defined SMSC connection, then NowSMS will only route the message outbound through an SMSC that has a matching pattern defined.

Similarly, you can perform routing by including a sender address when submitting a message (not possible through the web menu interface, but possible when submitting manually via URL submission). In this case, if a sender address is specified, NowSMS looks for an SMSC definition that has that sender address defined, and routes the message outbound through an SMSC that has that sender address defined as its default sender address (or as its GSM modem phone number).

If you don't have those settings defined, then messages are split through any SMSC connection that is configured to support any outbound message traffic.

Configuring a back-up link/fail-over, where the secondary link is only activated when the first fails, is more difficult. It is currently only possible when your back-up link uses the same protocol as your primary link (i.e., both SMPP, or both UCP/EMI, etc.). If you need more details, let me know ...
