I live in England. Just recently I bought a Samsung E700 SIM free. Put a new o2 SIM card in it.

Set the phone up fine, and got sent the correct settings for MMS messaging from o2.

The problem is that I can _generally_ receive SMS messages fine. Although two different people have told me that they had problems sending me a text message, and they could eventually, although the second person had to send it a few times, and the first had to wait until another day.

I realise there is probably very little wrong with my phone because I can generally recieve text messages ok.

Perhaps there is a setting that is causing an incompatibility.

I would grately appreciate some help.

Or if no-one can help, please could they suggest something I can do to find out what's wrong?

ANY IDEAS?

PUT SIMPLY - OCCASSIONALLY I CANT RECEIVE SMS MESAGES... ANY IDEA WHY?

Sorry, I don't have any idea.

A phone generally does not need to have any settings configured on it in order to receive SMS messages properly. (MMS messages do require settings on the phone.)

You might want to try posting on http://www.howardforums.com, as there are a lot of people over there that deal with end-user phone issues, and are experts on particular phones. (Our purpose here is to support our Now SMS/MMS Gateway software product.)

My suggestion would be to have your friends enable delivery reports for when they send you messages (this process varies from handset to handset, but you can usually set it somewhere under options in the SMS client). Have them periodically send you some test messages, and monitor the delivery reports.

Perhaps the problem is more specific to sending from phones that are registered to particular other operators?

Anyway, it's hard to make any specific recommendations, but maybe the folks at Howard Forums will be able to help.

I respect that, and actually only realised that afterwards when I had a look around the site. My apologies there.

Thanks for your imput nonetheless, it's appreciated.

I'm quite puzzled by this problem, but since I posted I havn't had any more problems...

Quite possibly it's just a series of coincidenses and nothing to do with me.

I think I'll tale a look at those forums, and then I'll take up the problem in the case that things still aren't right. Fingers crossed I don't have to :-)
