I have asked this question on the wap section of the discussion group, but didn't get any rerply. I have t316 sony ericsson phone. And i would like to send my pics and ringtones via sms to my phone. I know u have to convert both using a hex converter. I have used a hex editor but to no avail. Jus need to know what must be done to re-convert the hex version of the ringtone and pic when it arrives in the phone.

If it's monochrome (black and white) images, then they can be sent via EMS.

There are several different discussion threads here that discuss EMS. Search on a keyword of EMS, and make sure to specify "whole word only".

If you're talking about colour pictures, that is more complicated, as they have to be sent either via MMS or WAP Push.

If you just want to get a colour image to your phone, and you're not worried about developing a service around it ... then the simple way to do it is to store the image on a web site. Make sure you can access it as a GIF or JPEG using a direct URL link.

Go to the browser on the mobile phone, and type in the URL for the picture file to retrieve it.

For ring tones, there are multiple formats. SonyEricsson phones use EMS.

Newer phones, like the T316, can also support MIDI downloads from the browser. Save your ringtone in MIDI format. Put it on a web server, and make sure that the web server is configured to return the MIME type "audio/midi" for the file. Then, just like with the image, request the URL and download it from the browser.

I'm sorry, but I can only answer support questions related to the Now SMS/MMS Gateway product in this section of the discussion forum.

For general queries that are not product related, please post them to one of the discussion forum sections that include "not for product support" in the title.

hi. u have to get your card activated. Ring up the operator and just ask. If youre on O2 they have launched a text service to get MMS enabled on your account. If you text PICON to 21400 you'll get a message back saying your request will be processed within 48 hours.
