Ah ... the legend of "Blink SMS" ... First, I'd want to make sure that you're not actually referring to "Flash SMS", which is different from "Blink SMS", but the two are commonly confused with each other. A "Flash SMS" is a special SMS that the handset displays directly on the recipient's screen, but that never gets saved in the recipient's SMS inbox. There is a good discussion of how to send "Flash SMS" at the following thread: http://support.nowsms.com/discus/messages/1/3360.html "Blink SMS" is different. "Blink SMS" is when all or part of the message text blinks. Technically, this was considered a bug in some versions of Nokia handsets. Many newer Nokia handsets have been introduced which correct this "bug". The following site has a list of handsets that supposedly support "Blink SMS". To send a "Blink SMS" from NowSMS, you need to send from a direct URL request instead of via the web form in the user interface. Issue a URL request like this: http://127.0.0.1:8800/?User=username&password=password&PhoneNumber=phonenumber&t ext=this+is+a+%01blink%01+message (The user and password settings are not always required.) The "%01" is a delimiter around the message text that should blink. Note that most handsets will display a garbage character in place of the "%01". But for those with the blink bug, the text between the "%01" delimiters should blink. Also note that the blink message gets sent out in Unicode format, so instead of the normal 160 character limit, there is a limit of 70 characters to fit into a single SMS message. -bn | |||

As I say, it is considered a bug, so we can only go by unofficial sources that indicate what handsets have it. The following is the only place I've seen a concise list: http://in.mobile.yahoo.com/new/blink/handsets.html |
