I need to be able to send up to 50000 messages a day with (sometimes) the ability to get payed via Premium SMS/Reverse billing and forward

billing - basically what do I need. What services / hardware / software / infrastructure will I need, and recommendations?

How do shortcords work?

I've found lots of websites out there that will provide this sort of thing but I want to bring as much as I can in-house.

Some of the things I'm going to need are:

I want as much control over the system as possible, I want to be able to control the database, so I want to host the database server

locally in my own office. I want to be able to send and sometimes receive sms text when I want to.

I would ideally like to be connected via IP (broadband or Leased Line)

I think I'm going to need an sms gateway... what the best way to connect to this gateway SMPP/HTTP/Email

I'm going to need a Windows based solution

I'm also going need a reverse billing system - will my SMPP/Gateway host provide this? and how will I get payed?

On the Application Server side:

I'd like to be able to send rich content for the new generation of MultiMedia Phones (ie video, pictures, ringtones/MP3 etc. J2EE

apps etc. ) in the future as well as plain old text messages.

I'd like to be able to produce statistical and management reports if possible - that tells me a bit about the messages that I'm

sending out - how many replied etc. and batch the responses in different groups etc.

I've had a look and some products - VisuaGSM products from visualtron, various SMS gateway products that link

into MS Exchange etc... and several SMPP hosts but as a newbe I like some advice before I start spending money!

P.S. I will be based in the UK... and recommendations of service providers, apps are required!! :o)

Andrew

Hi Andrew,

I apologise that I did not respond to your message earlier.

Here's some background discussion on premium rate SMS that you might find helpful:

http://support.nowsms.com/discus/messages/12/1550.html

Our Now SMS/MMS Gateway software is middleware (that's what this web site is about) ... it supports SMS connectivity to service providers via a variety of different protocols ... and it specialises in some of the advanced message formatting requirements of WAP Push and MMS (as well as plain old SMS). NowSMS also makes it easy to implement 2-way SMS applications, so that you can process received messages and develop interactive applications. I'd encourage you to download the 60-day trial version from this web site and see if it meets your needs.
