I have built the coolest mms system. But since 50% of the danish telcos are firewalling their mmsc's i cannot download them via nowsms.

Just to make sure...
The thing you mentioned that nowsms would be able to download it via a gprs modem connected to nowsms. Would that be written into nowsms version 5.0 release 1 ?
It's very important for me to know ...

Got a brandnew testserver here just waiting for version 5 ;-)
Just can't wait..

Lars,

Yes, beta 1 will have that capability. There are some other MMS related features that customers are asking for ... but the ability to use the GPRS and WAP connection to send/receive MMS from closed operator systems is the feature that I think is the most exciting.

And no one is more anxiously waiting for this than me ... as I've been telling too many people about it as it has taken longer for us to complete than expected.

But you're at the top of my list of people to let know when it is ready ... as I know you'll give it a good workout!

I actually became so impatient that i started developing my own litte app. that should fetch via gprs.
hehe, but after reading some gsm docs i found that it woul take me weeks to do it.

Well, I think the hard part about doing it yourself is the WAP client. We've got that part licked (although I did discover a bug in it testing against an operator WAP gateway last night, but that has been fixed).

Hopefully we're getting closer.

Bryce
I hate to ask you, but my customers are asking me.
Can you give a rough estimate on when we can test 5.0 or download mms via gprs?
Then i have an answer to my customers.
I know it is a bit unpolite to ask, but i'll take my chances ;-)

I hate to give this answer, but I honestly don't know. We'll see how this week goes, I hope we'll have a clearer picture by the end of the week.

Lars and QL,

I have semi-good news on this subject.

We are currently estimating that the beta release will be available for download sometime between July 10 and July 16.

And Lars, you'll be glad to also know that we've addressed a couple of the problems that you've observed with some of your operator MMSC connections. We are now parsing the "From" address from the MMS notification, so that you don't run into problems with the goofy MMSCs that don't inlcude the "From" in the MMS message itself. Also, for GSM modem connections, we are pulling the "To:" address from the phone number configured for the GSM modem through which the message arrived.
