MY GATEWAY IS CLICKATELL (www.clickatell.com). I WANT TO SEND PIGTURE MESSAGES AND/OR RINGTONES. CLICKATELLS'API SUPPORTS SMPP, HTTP/S, SMTP. HOW DO I CONFIGURE THE SMSC OF NOWSMS GATEWAY?
PLS NOTE THAT MY KNOWLEDGE FOR COMPUTER/COMPUTER LANGUAGE IS VERY-VERY LIMITED.
WHEN I REGISTERED WITH CLICKATELLS' API THEY ASK ME FOR MY IP ADDRESS (I GAVE IT) AND I PUT ALSO USERNAME & PASSWORD. THEY REPLAY GIVING ME BACK AN API ID.
NOW I SUPPOSE I HAVE TO CONFIGURE THE SMSC BUT AS I TOLD YOU MY KNOWLEDGE FOR THOSE THINGS IS LIMITED.
CAN YOU HELP ME???

Hi,

The thread at the following link will provide details on configuring a connection to Clickatell as an HTTP SMSC.

http://support.nowsms.com/discus/messages/1/136.html#POST403

Now that they are supporting SMPP, that may be a better way to go for binary message types, but I do not know the host name and port number that they use for SMPP. If you get their SMPP details, you basically just need their host name and port number. You supply that information in the SMPP SMSC setup screen in NowSMS, supply your username and password, and the other fields can be left blank (although you may want to specify a default "Sender Address" to go out for outbound messages).

AND SOMETHING ELSE: MY ACCOUNT WITH CLICKATELL WAS A TEST ACCOUNT (THEY GIVE YOU 10 FREE CREDITS. ALL OF MY CREDITS DISAPPEARED !!!
I KNOW THAT I HAVE TO ASK CLICKATELLS' SUPPORT FOR THAT, BUT JUST IN CASE I MENTION IT.
I DIDN'T PUT A SENDER I.D. (ALTHOUGH MY PROVIDER SUPPORT IT)

Theodoulos,

I am confused and bewildered. Unless the "URL Template Text" and "URL Template Binary" settings were mixed, I can't see why this would occur.

I have a Clickatell account that I don't use so frequently any more, so I need to find my password in order to get back into it. But I recall that they have an area on their web site where you can see the messages that you have submitted. I'd be curious what it thinks you have submitted.

Also, how about if you e-mail me the SMS*.LOG files from your NowSMS subdirectory, along with your SMSGW.INI file. Before you send me your SMSGW.INI file, be sure to make a copy and blank our your Clickatell account id and password in the copy that you send me!

I'll be off-line for a couple of hours right now, but if you can e-mail me these files, I hope to spend a little more time in the support mailbox tonight.

BRYCE,
I'LL GIVE YOU THE FACTS:
1.PHONE No: 35799304890 (MY PHONE No)
2.SENDER ID: EMPTY
3.TEXT: TEST MESSAGE
4. RESULT: 'VVVICICICICICICI' ON MY MOBILE

AFTER A COUPLE OF MINUTES I SENT ANOTHER MESSAGE AS FOLLOWS:
1. PHONE: 35799304890
2. SENDER ID: I'M NOT SURE (THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT I WROTE 'YIANNIS', MY PARTNER NAME - THERE IS ALSO A GROUP NAMED 'YIANNIS' !!!)
3. TEXT: TEST
4. RESULT: TEST ON MY MOBILE AND ALSO SOME OTHER NUMBERS WHICH ARE INCLUDED IN 'YIANNIS' GROUP !!!)

AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THE REPORT FROM CLICKATELL (ATTACHED) MY NUMBER IS NOT IN THE REPORT.
BESIDES THE SMSGW FILE I ATTACHE 'YIANNIS' GROUP AND THE REPORT FROM CLICKATELL.
I'VE SENT YOU THE E-MAIL TO: NOWSMS@now.co.uk
GOOD LUCK !!!

CORRECTION: MY NUMBER DOES APPEAR ON THE REPORT, ONCE WITH THE STRANGE MESSAGE AND THE SECOND WITH THE CORRECT TEXT.

See your e-mail. I'd like to see a couple of the log files (SMSOUT-20030618.LOG and SMSWEB-20030618.LOG), as they will tell me what the gateway thinks you submitted.

I'm a bit confused ... but I think the problem may be some confusion over the updated "Send Text Message.htm" form that I sent you.

On that form, the first field is "Phone Number:", which is the phone number to receive the message. (If you put YIANNIS here, it is going to try to send to a distribution list named YIANNIS.)

The second field is "Sender Address", which is the address to be specified as the sender of the message.

I think that is a little confusing, because logic would suggest that the sender comes first, then the recipient ... but that is not the way that the form was designed. (When I added the "Sender Address" field for you, I added it below the "Phone Number".)
