Hi Otis,

There are no known issues or problems running NowSMS 2009 (or NowSMS 2008) on Windows 7.

We have not tested earlier versions. Windows 7 may have issues with earlier versions where NowSMS stored configuration files in the Program Files\NowSMS directory.

Windows security models introduced with Windows Vista do not allow users to create or update files in the Program Files directory structure without explicitly running in administrative mode.

For compatibility reasons, when NowSMS is running under Windows XP or Windows 2003 server, it stores configuration files in the Program Files\NowSMS directory.

When running under Windows 7, Windows Vista or Windows Server 2009, NowSMS stores configuration files in the ProgramData\NowSMS directory.

Therefore, if you are migrating a machine from XP/2003 to 7/Vista/2008 it may be necessary to manually copy configuration files from the Program Files\NowSMS directory to the ProgramDirectory\NowSMS directory.

Our migration advice is this:

1.) Copy the "Program Files\NowSMS" directory structure to "ProgramData\NowSMS".

2.) Delete all EXE and DLL files from "ProgramData\NowSMS".

3.) Delete (or rename) the "Program Files\NowSMS" directory.

4.) Perform a fresh install of NowSMS.

If you are curious, the following link has a good explanation of all of the NowSMS configuration files and directory structure:
