Hi,

1) Is their any protocols (or can I make my one) for end user requestes from a premium SMS and shortcodes. In this case I would like to connect to CPA partner or premium SMS gateway (operator partner for SMS premium number) I this case I'm the 3party

2) Is their any admin tools for SMS shortcodes

3) Is their any setup fee for using now SMS, or is it just based on volum?

Regards,
Petter

Petter,

In order to receive messages addressed to a short code, or to send premium SMS, you need to have an account with a mobile operator or through an SMS service provider.

You can do quite a bit with a GSM modem connection, but either of those tasks requires a special setup on the operator side.

When you use premium rate SMS, the recipient is charged for receiving the message sent by your system. Usually people that are using premium rate SMS have the need to send both premium and regular SMS messages. We generally recommend setting up a separate SMSC definition in NowSMS for premium rate connections with a specific sender address defined ... and then when you want to send out a premium rate SMS, you submit the message to NowSMS with that sender address specified, and that is how NowSMS knows to route the message via a particular SMSC definition.

Regarding NowSMS fees. NowSMS is a software product, not a service. We charge for our software based upon the volume of messages that can be supported through the software (# messages per minute or # of messages per second capacity). You would also have charges from your service provider related to the actual sending of messages.

On a GSM modem, typically you can get 6 to 10 messages per minute (varies based on operator conditions), unless your mobile operator support SMS over GPRS, in which case we have seen 30 messages per minute on a GSM/GPRS modem. IP-based SMSC accounts are capable of much higher throughput.
