We are experiencing problems with OTA to Sony Ericsson.

SMS MMS fine.

OTA to Nokia HTTP and Web Interface fine, OTA to Sony Ericsson message sent but no messages received.

Sent the binary BN recommended but still the same. Should PID be blank?

Gateway version 4.20 (b20030507).

Sony Ericsson tested T68, T68i and t610.

Emailed Tuesday currently no reply.

Please could you help as we have a large Sony Ericsson population.

Chris,

Sorry for the delay getting back to you. We are short staffed this week in technical support, and are unlikely to be caught up completely until the middle of next week.

I'm not aware of any problems with OTA and those phones. (I actually use a T68i more frequently than any other phone, so we end up running tests on that phone quite frequently.)

But I do seem some more detail in your e-mail message as I look at it right now.

It appears that you are doing OTA by creating the OTA documents directly. I'd suggest starting by filling out the OTA web form. That way there is less of a chance of a formatting error causing a problem ... or another frequent problem when you create your own documents is that some phones can be real picky about requiring particular fields to be present in an OTA document. Going through our web form is a safer approach.

I also see that you're sending out both OTA documents and BM (bookmark) documents. The T68 and T68i do not support the bookmark documents at all (if you do have a bookmark that you want to send out to one of those phones, and you know it is a T68 or T68i, try sending a text message that contains only the URL and the phone will prompt you about storing it as a bookmark) ... I am not sure about the T610 and whether or not it supports the OTA bookmarks.

So, as a first suggestion ... how about trying to send the settings out via the web menu interface first. Does that work properly?

If so, and you can't figure out what is wrong with the settings document, please e-mail it to me (nowsms@now.co.uk) so that I can take a look at it.

Started with the web interface, then moved to HTTP then the xml.

The T68/T68i is documented as supporting OTA bookmarks? I'll check this with Sony ericsson.

Would it be worth testing with nowsms v4.11?

Chris,

In your e-mail to me, I noticed that you referenced the text in the following message:

http://www.nowsms.com/cgi-bin/discus/show.cgi?tpc=132&post=1132#POST1132

... where I mentioned a compatibility issue sending OTA out to the SonyEricsson T68i with NowSMS v4.20.

I had completely forgot that this problem seemed to occur with some types of SMSC connections. (For example, if I use my phone as the SMSC connection, I have a problem ... if I go through an SMPP service provider I do not.)

Between the v4.11 and v4.20 releases, we made a change in the order of fields in the SMS user data header when sending out OTA messages. In some configurations, this causes problems with the T68/T68i.

Rather than sending you back to an older release, I'm going to suggest downloading an update available at the following URL:

http://www.nowsms.com/download/nowsms420a.exe

This link has NowSMS v4.20 (b20030528). It fixes a few minor issues in the v4.20 release, including this issue.
