Hi!
I downloaded this software hoping I may with this send pushup message (ota) to download midlet (java games: jar and jad files)
Some one know if I may do it with now.sms and eventually how?

If I could not with it, may you suggest me some software that is able to do this.

Thanks, Mauro

Hi Mauro,

To do it interactively, once you have the SMSC connection setup so that you can send SMS messages ... it's pretty easy to do this with the "Multimedia WAP Push" function.

Just specify the JAR or JAD file (be sure to use a .jar or .jad file extension) as a content file in the multimedia WAP push ... and specify a phone number to send it to.

In order for this to work ... the gateway needs to be able to send out SMS messages, and it must be internet accessible so that a phone with a WAP browser can make a connection back into the gateway.

So I'd suggest verifying this first:

1.) Verify that you can send a simple SMS text message through the gateway.

2.) Verify that you can send a simple WAP push message through the gateway. Don't worry about what URL you specify in the push ... the primary test is to verify that the phone can receive the message as a push. Select "Send WAP Push Message" ... leave it as "SI" type ... enter a phone number to receive the push, enter any URL as the WAP URL (we won't worry about connecting to the URL, just verifying that the phone receives the push), and some text in the "Text" field.

3.) On the "MMSC" page of the NowSMS configuration dialog, make sure that you have entered an IP address or host name for the "Local Host Name or IP Address" field, which can be used to connect to the PC running the NowSMS Gateway over the internet. Also, if you can use HTTP Port "80", you'll run into less compatibility issues (some service providers have WAP gateways firewalled off so that they cannot connect to content providers on ports other than 80).

4.) When you send the multimedia WAP push, it builds a WML file on the NowSMS gateway, and sends out a push link to that content so that the recipient can download your content.

Keep in mind that a ".jad" file is really a link for an external download ... the ".jar" is the content itself. So you only need to push one.

Once you get to the point where this is working, we can talk about other considerations.
