Hi,
Im thinking 2-way SMS, sending ringtone service to other user phone number. Lets say, i send SMS to gateway, "RING SONG +1234567". I wish to send ringtone "song" to "+1234567" (not my own number). Can you help me? since i believe 2-way sms will read 1st prefix command (RING) and @@SMS@@ = (SONG)..how bout the third text(+1234567)?? how can i able to use the third variable? Any suggestion?? or sample of programming?

Thank you.

It sounds like an interesting idea to me.

Basically your script would just need to parse the string "SONG +1234567" ... as that is what would be passed for the @@SMS@@ parameter. (It would not be split into separate variables.)

Is it possible to parse the string "song 123456"
to the script via Http?

like
http://10.11.1.218:8800/ringtone.cfm?ring=@@SMS@@&sender=@@SENDER@@
translated to
http://http:8800/ringtone.cfm?
ring=song 1234567&sender=0193149665

im thinking to have separate variable for "song" and "1234567" for different database table.

which later redirect as via HTTP to send ringtone..

my suggestion for next upgrade:
will be able to see variable text by text
like @@sms1@@ for 1st text, @@sms2@@ for 2nd text (exluding prefix command).

Thank you.

It really depends on what scripting language you're using for that.

Based on the ".cfm" file extension, it looks like you're using Cold Fusion ... which I'm not very familiar with. I would think it would be relatively simple to parse "song 123456" ... but maybe it is not so easy with Cold Fusion.

The idea of @@sms1@@, @@sms2@@, etc., is interesting. If you don't find a simple way to handle the existing string in a Cold Fusion script ... then I promise we'll look at this after we get the v5.0 beta out and settled.

Hi Rene,

I'm not sure I understand your question completely.

For text messages, sure you could do this easily. Configure a command on the "2-way" list, and that can call an executable or script that can take any action.

If it has to be a binary SMS, then I don't think this can be done in the v4.20 release. Binary SMS messages are not routed to a "2-way" command. However, a change was made in the v5.0 release that is currently in beta (http://www.nowsms.com/beta5) to allow binary messages to trigger a "2-way" command. From the readme.txt:

* June 11, 2003: Allow received binary messages to be processed by a 2-way command. Note
that no binary messages will be passed to a 2-way command unless the 2-way command includes
a replaceable parameter setting named "@@Binary@@". This replaceable parameter will be
set to "1" for binary messages, and "0" for text messages. Additional replaceable parameters
supported include @@DCS@@, @@PID@@ and @@UDH@@ (user data header).

If you have indeed tried everything, then I guess there is nothing else that you can try.

Since you have provided such a detailed explanation of your efforts, however, I can determine the obvious shortcoming of your efforts. It is obvious that what you have done wrong is failed to connect the differential defibulator to the framitz input of the frequency modulator. Without that connection, you are incredibly lucky that something didn't explode.

Basically, your best case outcome in such a scenario is that you generate a ring tone signal that is in a frequency that can only be heard by dogs. But that is only the best case, and one slip up in the note scale can generate a ring tone that will ignite petrol within 50 meters.

If your intent is to generate ring tones for dogs, then I think you would find the following link helpful: Canine Mobile Phone Launched.

Bryce's suggestion won't work - we've already tried that. What you need to do is to throw away your phone and upgrade to a carrier pigdeon.

My company, Croydon Boiler and Cam Co. have recently launched new range, genetically modified to support MMS.

These pidgeons are of the highest quality, being of the direct blood line of "Percy the Indefatigable" bred by Mr Norman Spodic of Burnley, Lancs in 1953.

Available from stock, from $25 each (with contract). Trade discounts available.
