We contact some mobile operators and they mentioned they use EAIF. Any suggestion on this connection?

EAIF is a protocol for submitting MMS messages to an MMSC. It is a Nokia proprietary protocol.

When you talk about MMSC connectivity, you will also see references to other protocols, such as MM7 (HTTP/XML/SOAP based), MM4 (SMTP based) and MM1 (HTTP based with binary message formats ... this is the protocol used for MMSC to phone). EAIF is a slight variation of MM1.

The current release (v4.20) of the Now SMS/MMS Gateway only supports direct MMS delivery where the gateway performs MMSC functionality (bypassing the operator MMSC).

We are preparing to release a new version shortly (v5.0 beta release will be posted to our web site next week) where we add support for the various MMSC connectivity protocols, and separate MMSC connections can be defined similar to how separate SMSC connections are defined in the current product. We will support MM7, MM4, EAIF and MM1 for MMSC connectivity. The MM1 support includes the ability to use a GPRS modem and connect to an MMSC over GPRS via an operator WAP gateway (this allows a user to use a GSM/GPRS modem to submit MMS messages to an operator MMSC without having a special account with the operator, it is submitted via software as if it were being submitted by the MMS client on a mobile phone).

There will be more discussions about the v5.0 beta release of the Now SMS/MMS Gateway on this discussion board after we make the beta release available for download.
