I am trying to configure the SMSC setting to use a HTTP connection. I am a little unsure as to what is required for the Host Name: and Port Number: fields on the http connection details screen. I initially thought this was requesting my ip address but this did not work (failed to connect), have tried stating localhost, which didn't work and am now stabbing in the dark. Could do please define what is required for these fields in regards to my own computer setup, and possibly how I could get hold of the Host Name and Port Number I would need (using Windows XP). I am using a telewest broadband connection to access the internet, would the host name be related to the ISP domain or something along those lines.
Hope you can help.
Thank you for your time.

Hi Alfie,

Sorry, but those fields are asking for the parameters for connecting to an SMS service provider ... not for any parameters specific to your installation.

The following link will hopefully provide more information:

Should I type in all the HTTP connection details shown on the above URL?
What about the ser name & Password fields? Should I type in as 'skippy' for both fields?

I tried to type in 'skippy' for both fields and the connection is ok. However, my mobile didn't receive the text message after sending it via your now sms web interface. Would you please figure out the problem?

Thanks!

I'm unclear about this also - how to configure it for HTTP.

As Bryce pointed out above "those fields are asking for the parameters for connecting to an SMS service provider ... not for any parameters specific to your installation"

Do not confuse this with having an SMS service on your phone its a seperate account, the SMS service provider or aggregator will give you details of how to make the connection to him, and will provide the details you require for this type of connection
