I am using my own Nowmms server in the lab , and evrything was working fine when using the WAPGW from the free nowmms service. But I switch the wapgw to Kannel 1.3.1 WAPGW, and notice the UAPROF is no longer being stored on the UAPOF dir of nowmms for new phones. Is there sonething I can do to track this down, I know the kannel doesnt support uaprof, but I thought uaprof url is being passed to nowmms server, and server simply caches it to the uaprof dir, as it did when I was still using the WAP3GX fron the nowmms free website.

Hi. We've been relocating some equipment, but the WAP3GX gateway @ 213.48.20.10 that was running in conjunction with the NowMMS service should be back up in another 12 hours or so. We don't intend to shut down the WAP gateway permanently, but we've had some internal office moves that have knocked it out temporarily.

I'm not sure about Kannel, but I am quite familiar with the WAP protocols. The UAProf information is transmitted in the "Profile:" header. Basically the phone includes this header in its WAP connection to the gateway, and the gateway should forward this header along when making HTTP requests on behalf of a device (provided that the gateway understands this header).

Without this header, NowSMS does fall back to the "User-Agent:" header, and can map local UAProf files to a device without the "Profile:" header actually being present.

Bryce described this process in a couple of threads out here that you might find useful:

Without the "Profile:" header, you have to define manual mappings in the UAMAP.INI file to map "User-Agent:" headers to particular UAProf XML files. If you need more help after referring to the above mentioned threads, please let us know.
