I am trying to get the Sony Ericsson MD300 Wireless Modem to work.

When trying to test and add it, I get back "Modem does not support SMS -- +CME ERROR: 10". I've read elsewhere on the forums that people've gotten this modem working... I was wondering if anyone has any advice on what to do or knows what this error message means (since I assume the modem actually does support SMS).
Thanks!

Hi Daniel,

I've never encountered this particular error code before.

However, consulting various modem error code references, it is likely one of two problems.

1.) The SIM card is not properly inserted in the modem.

2.) The SIM card is not provisioned to allow SMS access.

So I'd start by checking that the SIM card is properly inserted in the device. Remove it and reinsert it.

If that doesn't resolve the problem, try putting the SIM card into a phone, and verify that you can send/receive messages properly using the SIM card in a phone.

Thank you Des,
So after some more testing, it looks like the "unlocked" SIM card that AT&T gave us is in face not unlocked (even though on the GO phone it came with SMS & MMS & data all worked fine). But switching it out seems have to fixed up the issue.
Thanks!
Daniel
