Hi Des,

I am test the NowSMS with 8 USB modems connected to a server. The problem is that when you restart the server changes the physical port - port com order of modems. For example, if the USB port 1 is connected the modem # 1 COM 3 and port 3 is connected USB modem # 3 COM12 this order can be change randomly when you restart the computer.
One of the utilities that I have with 8 modems is I can route the SMS between operators, with this problem I can do it.

You know how to fix this?

Regards and thanks so much.

Hi Ramón,

Do the modem driver names change, or only the virtual COM port numbers?

You should always configure NowSMS to access using the named modem driver instead of using the COM port number.

If the modem driver name is changing ... unfortunately, I don't have any advice for you. This should not be happening. If it is, I would suggest you check to see if the modem manufacturer has any updated modem drivers on their web site.

Des,

Thanks for your prompt reply.

Always the COM ports have the same modem name, but this not ever matches with the same physical port. In other cases, Windows show one modem as non conected and installed a 9th modem in other COM port.

There will be some way of mapping the physical ports to COM ports? Do you know any multi modem device that can replace the USB modems? How would you solve the problem of installing several suppliers in the same SMS gateway?

Thanks, again, for your time.

Regards
