But how can I connect it to my PC ?

The mobilephone accepts infrared, but that connection is never held longer than 20 seconds and I don't see any connections on the phone for a datacable

You have to buy a data cable specific to the phone, it doesn't ship with one. A search on Google for +7650 +"data cable" returns lots of pointers to places that sell them.

Okidoki, but I also saw that NOKIA itself does NOT have a datacable for its 7650 and when I look at all those datacables, I can't see what kind I would need. It seems that the 7650 should be opened to be able to connect a cable. Also on a lot of sites where they sell 7650 cables, there is mentioned that the cable does not work with Nokia Data Suite.

Could anyone please tell me which cable to buy to have it working with NowSms/Mms ?

Maybe somebody who is allready using the 7650?

I don't have a 7650 in front of me, but normally there is a connector adjacent to where you would connect the power supply.

If I search Google on:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=%2B%22nokia+7650%22+%2B%2 2data+cable%22

The link to cellsavers.co.uk has an F & M BUS cable that would appear to be what you need.

When searching, I did see the strange note that you mention on an Australian site, but I can't find that link at present.

Bryce,

I also have a NOKIA 6210 here. This is NOT a MMS phone however. Can I use this phone to connect nowsms to? Will I need to install Nokia Data Suite therefore or isn't that needed ?

Kind regards,

Bart

Bart,

The 6210 works great. We use one connected to a NowSMS server in our office. You need a DLR-3 compatible cable to hook it up to a serial port (or you could use infrared, I just find infrared to be a little inconsistent, so I hesitate to use it for anything other than testing).

The only consideration with the 6210 is that it is not a GPRS phone. That just means that you can't use the NowSMS v5.0 feature that allows you to send MMS over GPRS through an operator MMSC.

You should not have to make any settings in your phone itself.

Is this a serial cable or USB cable?

Was their a software driver to install for the modem? If there was a software driver for the modem, did it install correctly? Can you go into Control Panel/Phone and Modem Options ... select Properties for the Modem and Query the modem via Diagnostics?

If you connect to the COM port via HyperTerminal, can you type ATZ followed by enter ... and does the modem respond back with OK?
