Does Nowsms support nokia 3310 ?

Hi Jens, We haven't tested the Nokia 3310 as a GSM modem with the NowSMS gateway. We also have not received any end-user feedback on this device. Based upon the specification for the device, I believe it should work.

Does it take approximately 60 seconds before that error message is displayed when trying to add the modem definition? That error message ... "Error initializing modem -- ATZ" would suggest that the modem is not responding with an "OK" to a simple AT command. Instead, it is echoing the command back to NowSMS (which is not a problem), but it is not indicating that it understands the command (which is a problem). Based on this, I'd suspect that it is the wrong cable, or the cable might have a switch for two different types of operation. Nokia phones usually have two types of cables (although most cables these days are switchable) ... FBUS and MBUS. FBUS is usually used for special programming of the mobile phone (unlocking the phone, programming ringtones and graphics directly), and MBUS is used for using the phone as a data modem, and to provide an "AT Command" interface for sending/receiving messages. The Now SMS/MMS Gateway uses this "AT command" interface. And basically the error that you mention above indicates that when we attempt to send an "ATZ" command out to the modem, we are not receiving an expected "OK" response back from the modem. You could try going into HyperTerminal, and start a session with HyperTerminal to talk to the modem directly via its COM port definition. Try typing ATZ followed by the Enter key into HyperTerminal. What happens? If you don't get an OK response back, then it is likely that the cable is wrong, or if the cable is manually switchable between FBUS and MBUS, it needs to be switched to MBUS mode. -bn

Can you connect to the COM port to which the modem is attached using HyperTerminal and issue any commands to the modem ... and get an "OK" response back? Try connecting and then type ATZ and press the Enter key ... if you get back an OK response, that is a good sign that you have a valid cable. If you can't get a response, then either the cable is of the wrong type, or it is not properly connected to the PC.

the problem is that the Nokia 3310 donn´t have a Built in modem, you have to crate an interface. |
