I am trying to connect to the GPRS data network using T68i cell phone as modem. Since I am planning to use this in a custom built hardware which is not based on Windows OS, communication manager software can't be downloaded into that hardware. So I am using AT commands to achieve my goal.
To test the AT commands I have connected the cell phone to a PC and started the HyperTerminal on the PC. I am able to communicate with the cell phone via AT commands.
The command AT+CGACT is suppose to start the GPRS session and it won't put the cell phone in the online. So we can't transfer the data. This command helps in testing whether GPRS is set up correctly or not. When I give this command, the cell phone connects to the GPRS network and on the cell phone a glove icon appears indicating it is connected to the GPRS network.
According to the AT manual reference ATD*99***n#(n is the GPRS account on the cell phone) command suppose to start the GPRS network and put the cell phone in the online mode. When I type that command on the cell phone "connecting" appears for a long time and then "connecting" disappears and the cell phone wouldn't have connected to GPRS network.
Looks like just AT*99***n# command won't connect the cell phone to the network and put that in the data mode. Looks like after sending that command some kind of authentication has to take place between the cell phone and APN. Does this authentication is conducted by the modem driver or the firmware that is in the phone?
Is it possible to connect the T68i to GPRS network using the AT command ATDT*99***n#?

I'm sorry, but this is the support forum for the NowSMS product. And I have to give priority to supporting users of the NowSMS product.

As your question is not related to NowSMS, please post it in one of the areas of this discussion board that are marked as being "not for product support".

I can tell you that you need to look at the AT+CGDCONT command, and that a PPP negotiation is expected after you dial *99***x# ...
