Hi Ismail,

Does NowSMS display an error? What is the error?

Can you go into the Phone & Modems area of the Windows Control Panel. Select Modems/Properties/Diagnostics/Query Modem ... does Windows report any errors connecting to the modem?

Instead of searching blindly ... try the manufacturer web site.

There is a download software link on the product page for the C100 on the Samsung web site.

Hi Ismail!
Try the following:
1.Add "GSM phone or Modem"
2.Choose appropriate COM port ( not Samsung GPRS modem
3.C100 chould be recognized on 57600
It works fine on my PC.

The link referenced above has a software download link that will take you to the EasyGPRS download.

I have not used EasyGPRS, so I cannot comment on how it compares to the Nokia PC Suite software.

I also can't comment on any problems with that software and Windows XP SP2. (Although my advice would be to uninstall EasyGPRS, and then re-install it, and see if that makes a difference.)

Hi All,

I happened to see the mails above and would like to tell about the GPRS connection on Samsung C100 handset. I was finding difficulty in installing the modem driver (on Windows XP). I could install the USB IRDA adapter (Model: MA-620) yesterday and I was trying to install the 'SAMSUNG GPRS MODEM'. Today I installed the utility 'EASY GPRS' and same time I found a modem got installed on my PC (by default) named 'STANDARD MODEM OVER IR LINK' on COM4. After activating the GPRS facility from the service provider "AIRTEL" I could connect to the Internet through this Samsung C100 handset and I am feeling that, the speed is NOT BAD. I am using Windows XP, Servicepack 1.

If anybody wants to know anything related to the aforesaid matter, contact me. :-)

Hi
I have a problem too, with my Samsung c100. I have a serial cable, Easy Gprs v2.1.2 and the phone doesn't connect. Easy Gprs keep's telling Offline. I connected a Samsung V200 and it works fine. With the Samsung c100, when easyGprs searches for phonebook, sim,(for connection); at the end it says "Can't read messages" or something like that. The phone beep's from time to time like it wants to connect but the easyGprs is still Offline. Please help me. Please e-mail me your answer. Thank you very much!!!

I have a samsung c100 and an IRDA cable(usb). My problem is that I can't upload nothing on my phone. Windows Xp(sevice pack 2) keeps saying me that "Samsung sgh-c100 is in range". I don't have the Handset Manager program for samsung c100. On an E710 it works fine(because it has the program). What can I do if I don't have the program?. Easy Gprs v2.1.8 doesn't do anything- is offline ALL THE TIME.(I changed all the speeds posible). Please help me on this problem because I'm so upset because I invested so much money for nothing. Please HELP! Thank you. victor_marincus@yahoo.com

I had the same problem before with easy grps keeps telling ofline .
it works now on my PC. try... NOT to connnect your irDA before you open your easygprs.
do that after your computer completely load you EGPRS program.

the first thing when you connect using this methode. the program will load all your phonebook addresss, then sms. you can stop it if you wish and you can reload it again.

you can receive sms when you are connecting to Irda and PC and at the same time reply to it.

but you can not read sms longer than 160 (unlike nokia software).

I know samsung needs to develop their software..
i quote that but still no answer from their sotware development.

so far for samsung user... that's all what you get.

Hello friends.
I have tried everything to make my c100 working with xp sp2 but nothing. Win xp sp2 dont have the right driver for c100 standard modem over ir link like it was on xp sp1. There is no other optional drivers for c100, so we have to wait for xp update, because Samsung dont care a lot for that. If somebody find the solution please post it on forum.

I had the same problem before.
I think it is because EasyGPRS conflicts some software. When I killed some processes e.g. Windows Blinds, and Daemon Tools, it worked.
I am using XP Sp2, infra connection.

HELP!!!HELP!!!!HELP!!!!!HELP!!!!!
I have Samsung SGH C100, dowloaded EasyGPRS from manufacturers site. I also have an USB data cable. I have installed the EasyGPRS software successfully and also installed my phone as modem when I “querried” the "Samsung GPRS modem" I did not get any error message but got following "Commands Not Supported" for AT#CLS=?, AT+GCI?, AT+GCI=?, AT12, AT14,AT15,AT16 and AT17, other commands got response.
My problem is I am unable to transfer images, ringtones edit phone book entries etc... using EasyGPRS. When I open EasyGPRS I get error message which says when I click ok it loads all Phonebook,SMS,Call records, schedule but I am unable to use any of them. All the menus in "Tools" in the easygprs task bar are in grey shade, only "import/export" is highlighted.
PLeaaaaase somebody heeeelllpppp me.

I have had success with IrCOMM2k from:

http://www.ircomm2k.de/

This driver makes the IRDA port look like a serial port. It works reasonable well with XP SP2.

Please explain how you make c100 working under xp sp2. The target problem is how to install standard modem over ir link under the xp sp2. C100 was compatibile with xp sp1, but something is wrong about xp sp2, it recognize c100, but unable to install driver.

I had exactly the same problem as some of you under Windows XP SP2, in that using EasyGPRS and an infra-red connection to connect with my Samsung C100 wouldn't work, whereas it had done previously under Windows XP SP1.

Further to an earlier post, I downloaded the IRComm2k software from http://www.ircomm2k.de/
and have found it to now work perfectly.

Download the IRcomm2k software, extract the .zip and run the setup.exe file. It'll ask you what port to choose, it doesn't matter really what you choose, but I chose COM4. The setup continues, flashes up a "Are you really sure you want to install this driver" type message for the "Virtual IR COM Port" - click "Continue" to carry on, it's not dangerous, it's just a driver that hasn't been checked by Microsoft. Once the install is over, open EasyGPRS, go to File > Setup, and change the Port to the new port you've create (i.e. in my case COM4)

Press OK, and reload EasyGPRS.
Switch on IRDA on the phone - (Phone Settings, Infrared activate) and move the phone towards your IRDA port. EasyGPRS should pick up the phone and begin downloading your phonebook, messages and calls.

When you then go into GPRSWizard (those of you using your phones to connect your computer to the Internet), the program will complain that the EasyGPRS modem driver cannot be found. Add a new modem - select "I will choose from a list", go to "select the driver to install" and choose Samsung from the left hand side and double click SAMSUNG GPRS modem on the right. Select the modem driver to be installed onto the new COM port you've made and press OK. Then go into the Setup on GPRS Wizard, click on Modem and select the Samsung GPRS Modem, then press Select. Press Select again, then Exit and restart GPRSWizard. Can't guarantee this last bit works entirely as I get a PPP error when I connect to the GPRS service, but I've always had that, so I can't really help any more.

Hope this helps some of you.

Thank you, I succesfuly establish connection with IrComm. I'm wondering, how it work only via GPRS Wizard and no chance to dial it thru normal dial up.In XP SP1 I was able to dial both ways. Also I'm not sure how is possible that I cant Query Samsung GPRS modem. Everything is looking that something is wrong, but in reality it works.
Thanks again

Hi All,
I bought a USB to IRDA ES-620 device. I problems in configuing this device. WIN XP does detect the device and the wireless icon is also not displayed in the tray.

As soon as the device is connected, XP says "one of the USB devices connected to this machine had malfuntioned". On diagnosing it says no drivers were installed for this device so it cannot start.

I also tried installing the drivers that came along with the device even then Xp did not sense my device. Pl. Help

This works for SP2:

Download IrCOMM2k (http://www.stud.uni-hannover.de/~kiszka/IrCOMM2k/English/), and install it on any port. Then setup EasyGPRS so that it uses that port instead of IrDA.

After several hours of trying other stuff, this worked the first time.

David T's suggestion really worked! Thanks!
My Setup: Dell Inspiron 510m, Windows XP SP2, Samsung C100, EasyGPRS 2.1.8.

Prior to using irCOMM2K, EasyGPRS always showed Offline, and no apparent way of making 'online' (Thankfully now I see SGH-C100 where offline used to be!).

Looking at Device Manager: I used to have one infrared device (SMC irCC - Fast Infrared Port) always on, and the 'Standard Modem over IR link' showing whenever I switched my mobile's IR link on. The 'Standard Modem...' used to have COM4. All help I read said that this is the COM port I need to set in EasyGPRS. Nothing worked, so I followed David's advice. Installed irCOMM2K to port 3, changed EasyGPRS to also use port 3 and all works!
WOW!

!!!ES620 USB-IRDA PROBLEM SOLVED!!!........let me help u coz i too had the same headache with my new ES620 IRDA. ur problem is that when u plug the device in usb port it is not recognised as it should be.it is recognised as an unknown device or usb-serial controller with no drivers installed for it.i'lll now tell u how i solved it. i found that it was becoz of the EEPROM on the IRDA unit having a different (or no IDs at all/ or it was corrupt) vendor id (VID) and product id (PID) from the ones sop[ecified in the .inf file of the driver cd. the EEPROM was on hip named PL2303HX on the IRDA unit. as a result windows could not recognise the drivers for the IRDA unit. to solve this download an EEPROM writer and usb-serial driver for PL2303 from PROLIFIC company's website.install usb-serial driver, plug the IRDA unit into a USB port and run the EEPROM writer program .now open the .inf file depending on ur Operating system(win98/ME/2k/XP).look for something like this in the .inf file: "USB\VID_0DF7&PID_0620". in this example vendor id is 0DF7an product id is 0620. copy these values from inf file and put them into the EEPROM writer program, leave the field "Release No (BCD)" blank.now press the button "write EEPROM" and you have solved the problem.exit the eeprom writer, take the irda unit out of the usb port and plug it back. the system will now recognise it as a serial- usb controller and ask u to install drivers, install drivers manually.now in device manager u can see an infrared device "Edisonsoft ES620 usb infrared adapter" which is working properly.in the control panel u will find a wireless link icon. it means that now everything is working fine.now switch on infrared on ur mobile and point it to the irda.it will be automatically connected. looks simple but it took me 3 weeks to find out what the problem was. dont worry if u get the same problem in future again, it means that the EEPROM has got corrupt again.just rewrite it again and it will be normal..........enjoy.........mail me if ur problem still persists or if u need further help.......excuse me for poor english.

Hi Has anyone else succeeded to reprogram the EEPROM of the ES-620? I find myself in a similar situation: my ES-620 is not recognized anymore as an IrDA adapter but rather as an USB-Serial port. Actually the USB identifier string is no USB\VID_067b&PID_2303 (which is the default for the Prolific PL-2303 USB-to-Serial Bridge Controller http://www.prolific.com.tw/eng/Products.asp?ID=59) i can install default USB-to-serial drivers from prolific but nothing... I guess my devices EEPROM got corrupted and is not working properly and the internal chip reverts to its original (built in) ROM to identify it as a plain USB-to-serial device instead of a IrDA device...

To the original poster of the message (an anonymous reader): can you please tell me which EEPROM writing software you used? And can you please make a backup of your EEPROM and post it here? I need to reprogram my ES-620 from scratch.

I'm trying to transfer pictures from my Samsung e315 to my PC using a "SAM X426" data cable.

Easy GPRS? When I download that from the Samsung site I end up with "Samsung PC Studio II PIMS and File Manager" - is that the same thing?

My data cable ("Sam x426") has a USB connection. Isn't the com1 port a 9-pin serial connection?

I've downloaded the USB-serial converter from http://www.susteen.com/drivers.htm and unzipped it but there is no .exe file. Rebooting does nothing to activate it.

I'm running Windows XP that has been fully upgraded so I probably have sp2 installed.

Somehow I got all this to work before my system was restored. Fry's won't fix their crappy computers without restoring them first. I saved all the downloads/drivers on a separate hard drive so THIS WOULDN'T HAPPEN! What worked before doesn't now.

Any suggestions?

hi everybody
this is rakesh
i have used sgh-c100 very frequently
some persons have asked about the working of eagy gprs on the sp2 operating system it doesnot work on sp2 always but sometimes it does. the reason behind it is simple. service pack 2 provides a strong security and the software cant be able to cross the windows firewall thats why the cell is not connected with the pc.

the installation for the sgh-c100 data cable is so simple. when ever u connect the pc with the data cable it automatically detect the new hardware if it doesnot then restart pc if it again not detect then go to system menu either from properties of my computer of from contrl panel and then open hardware - device manager then scan for any external hardwre or chek out from new hardware wizard from control panel . if ur system detects it then firstly install ur data cable from the cd . it is so simple only click on to the automatically search for the software then the pc will automatically select the specific software from the cd. then after install eagy gprs it is also so simple only select ur type of cell phone and do the installation now the next work is installation of modem most of persons do not do that thats why the connection will not be possible
to install ur modem go to the contrl panel-phone and modem in the location u can choose ur location or international free telephony service and then go to the modem tab and add new then do not detect automatically and then quit the system for about 1 minute to detect the system a list of modem will appear on u then select "SAMSUNG" on those then add that specific modem on the right com port , here i want to say that port selection is most important task the computer automatically detects that in which port ur data cable is connected then by default in windows xp the modem coms are given as:
{some one has also asked for the port addresses
here port address of the computer if u use upper usb ports and have intel motherboard then the left side port is most approprite for u from the front as u see the cpu this is generally COM3 }

COM1
COM3
it means that ur cable is connected in com3
then if u not specific with ur com then add all the modems from selecting install all modems

this was the final task and after that when u open the easy gprs go to the file menu and setup modem option and select that one which was ur modem installed then adjust the speed 115200 and connect ur cell ur cell will be connected with the pc .

Best of luck.....
can chat with me at rakesh_bits2003@yahoo.co.in on yahoo messenger.take care bye to all
