Hi, Currently we are using the GSM/ GPRS modem solution to deliver SMS and SI message to the terminal. However, we found out that it is extermely unstable. Very often, after we submit a number of messages (I would say 10, but really depends), the program will stop to response and I have to reboot the pc and wait for a while for it tot work again. I checked the Event log and it states "Error initializing SMSC Interface 'LGE U8XXX USB WMC Modem'. Interface is not avaliable". However, I am sure the phone is plugged in and everything is fine. It is quite frustrating coz soemtimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Do you have any idea to solve this isssue? THANKS! For your information, we are using LG U8120C (same as U8110 in UK) and H3G network for interconnection. We do found out that for unsucessful submission, they will be stored in the phone's Draft, and it will go out next time it connect sucessfully. | |||

Hi Eric, Just as an idea, it could be your USB interface or driver having some sort of problem.When you are using USB, actually the driver emulates a serial port connection, so why not use a physical com connection! I recommend for optimum stability use a Serial connector from your phone to the PC.Try it & the problem would go away! HTH | |||

Hi Eric, I don't have any familiarity with that device. And it is very possible that the device is somewhat problematic. When this error occurs, what do you have to do in order to recover? (If you restart the NowSMS service, is that enough to get things working? Or do you have to physically remove the USB cable and reconnect it?) I'd like to see a debug log to better understand what is occurring. Edit SMSGW.INI, and under the [SMSGW] header, add Debug=Yes. Then restart the NowSMS service. NowSMS will produce an SMSDEBUG.LOG as it runs. I would like to see the content of that file, showing this error being triggered. As Saeed mentions, if you have a serial option for connecting, that would also be a good idea to try. Basically, when this error occurs, it means that the modem is not responding to our attempts to communicate with it. We do take quite a few different actions to re-establish communications with the modem, so that is why I'm suspecting a problem with the modem, the cable, or the driver. But I would like to see an SMSDEBUG.LOG in order to better understand what is happening. -bn | |||

Sigh ... Some day I will have to have someone explain to me why some people think that if they post a message to our discussion board, in reply to any random posting, that it will magically be sent out to someone over SMS. P.S. - sridhar did not receive your message ... at least not via SMS. |
