I'am aiming on a SMS gateway System, so I have some questions: How many GSM modems is possible to use in one computer working with NOWSms obviously? Case yes, I can handle what GSM modem I want to use to send a sms via php for example? Thanks in advance. Thiago Facchini | |||

Hi Thiago, NowSMS doesn't limit the number of modems. However there can be Windows driver issues with some modems, particularly USB modems. The normal usage case for one of these USB modems is to provide mobile internet access for a laptop. Therefore, sometimes the modem manufacturer does not properly test that a driver is able to handle the installation of multiple units of the same modem. I've seen log files from customers that had 8-10 USB modems attached. Unfortunately, when I was looking at the log files, I didn't really pay attention to which modem was being used. So I can't give you a definitive answer on what brand modem is best for installing multiple modems. However, if you add them one by one and Windows does not recognise an additional unit ... use a modem from a different manufacturer instead. For sending via PHP, the easiest way to target a particular modem is by sender address when sending (recipient when receiving). This allows you to explicitly set the modem route. If you end up with a mix of modems and SMSC connections, routing can be more complicated. The following article explains how to associate route names with different SMSC connections and how to route by route name instead of sender address: http://blog.nowsms.com/2008/07/routing-sms-messages-to-specifc-smsc.html -- Des NowSMS Support |
