Hello,

I am trying to use the NowSMS software on a corperate LAN that is protected by a firewall/NAT gateway to the internet. I have a SMPP account setup but I am unable to connect. Does anyone have any experience with the network setup needed to make this work. I believe that I need to open a port on the NAT to allow my SMPP connection out. Should that be TCP or UDP?? Is there a specific port number or do I use the one provided by the SMPP provider (Clickatell)?

Doug,

You definitely need to open up some ports, the port that Clickatell gave you plus port 80 should be ok.

Doug,

The ports need to be TCP.

Hi Doug,

Keith's reply is correct. There is no extra special ports that are used for an SMPP connection, the gateway just needs to be able to generate a TCP connection out to the port number that is specified by the service provider.
