Can someone explain how email to EMS works? I know this really isn't a NowSMS topic, but I figured since most of the experts are on this forum I'd ask.

Basically, I've been tinkering with both NowSMS and just regular email to SMS (in the USA). What I've noticed is some email services such as Hotmail, my Sony Ericson T610 phone receives the email as an EMS message whereas from Yahoo it comes through as a regular text message.

Does this mean that something is being embedded in the header of the email from Hotmail which makes the phone reckonize it as a EMS message?

Thanks!

I'm not really sure how to answer your question.

It sounds like the message is being formatted as an EMS message. In which case, the Hotmail e-mail server would likely be formatting the message as an EMS message and submitting it directly over SMS instead of going through an e-mail gateway at the mobile operator.

Generally speaking, you have more control over message content when you submit directly over SMS. (Which is usually the only option outside of the US.)
