Hello all,

I have just installed the SMS G/W (still not used it, though) and I am currently browsing its documentation.

I have come across various mentions in both the docs and the forums about some problems/glitches with various phone models (long SMSs, MMS reception,...).

Is there a list somewhere (even informal) of some or all the different phones/modems/cards/etc that the G/W has been tested with and is known to show NO problems or erratic behaviour at all?
I should note that I am particularly interested in GPRS connectivity.

I would greatly appreciate such a list, before deciding if a phone purchase is necessary.

Thank you for your time.

Best regards,

Stelios

Sorry Stelios,

We don't really have such a list.

There are various notes and discussions about particular models here on the discussion board, but no consolidated list.

In general, when using a phone as a modem, you will not be able to receive MMS messages, only send them.

A dedicated GSM modem device will get around that problem. The Siemens MC35 seems to be quite popular as an external modem device.

There are also PC cards. The Nokia D211 doesn't support receiving SMS (or MMS) messages through a standard interface, so it is send only. I haven't had too much feedback on other PC card modems ... but I use a Sierra Wireless Aircard 750 which works quite well (just beware that most of these cards ship with an old version of firmware, so you need to upgrade to the v3.x firmware version after you install the card).
