Hello, I am trying to use the SMS/MMS gateway for my project work where in the gateway is to act as a server for my MMS emulator. The gateway and the emulator are supposed to be running on two different PCs.I want to know whether my idea of using the gateway is correct or not and if yes , then how should I go about it?The emulator will have an IP address wherein all the guide and help of the gateway talk about phone number of the mobile where sms or MMs can be sent. How should I resolve this matter?

Are you writing the MMS emulator??? If not, it all depends on how the MMS emulator can accept MMS messages. All of the MMS emulators from the major phone manufacturers do not support the actual over the air protocols for MMS reception in their emulators. That is why I ask if you are writing your own. Here is a thread where I recently offered some advice for people looking to use NowSMS in a lab/test environment: http://support.nowsms.com/discus/messages/485/6881.html

Hello Bryce, Thank you for your respose.Yes I am developing the MMS emulator. My idea is to run my emulaotrs on two PCs and the gateway on third PC and then communicate between the two emulators via the gateway.I am developing the gateway on Pocket PC 2003.My problem is the configuration of the gateway both for SMSC and MMSC.Every where in the docvument it is written that the gateway needs a phone number to send a SMS or MMS but in my case I have PCs which have IP number and not phone number , so I am perplexed about the configuration of SMSc and MMSC.If you can bring in some light in this gray area of mine then it will be of great help to me. Thank you.

One of the links in the above message talks about a pure IP environment: http://support.nowsms.com/discus/messages/485/4184.htm See the reference to the "IPNotify" section reference in that thread, as it maps a phone number to an IP address. The NowSMS configuration will complain that you do not have any "SMSC" definitions added, but you can run it without any "SMSC" defined. |
