Hi there.I have downloaded the nowsms software and installed it on my laptop running win XP.I have a samsung a 300 which is installed automatically. my laptop sees the samsung as a modem over infra red port . When i try to make nowsms see my samsung as a smsc it freezes the software. i tried different methods but i dont know what the problem is. Maybe i need a datacable? I am doing this as i want to let another application send and receive SMS trough NOWSMS. we are a new provider for ringtones and stuff and we need to set it up by our own. Are there any persons who have already up and running such a server or does nowsms sell such things? i really need to know. regards my email is mailto:sewkar@digitalplastic.nl. or sewkar@hotmail.com (msn also)

When you define the modem to NowSMS, are you selecting it based upon the COM port number, or based upon a named modem driver?

Try selecting the named modem driver instead of going direct to the COM port. This tells NowSMS to use a Windows modem driver, which would be configured under "Phone & Modem Options" in the Windows Control Panel.

If that also locks up, then I would ask what happens if you go into "Phone & Modem Options" in the Control Panel ... select Modems/Properties/Diagnostics/Query Modem ... does that work properly? If it does, then I would expect NowSMS would not freeze up trying to talk to the modem. If this does not work, then something is not right with the Windows modem driver installation.

It is also worth trying to use HyperTerminal to talk directly to the COM port ... does that work? If you open up a connection to the COM port, can you type ATZ and press Enter in HyperTerminal, and have the modem respond OK?
