Dear Support, I've a NowSMS license and I would like to find out how many comports (physical & virtual) I can utilize with the software. I'm planning to add more than 10 gsm modems using Moxa (Remote IP address) and I would like to know if its possible. Thanks in advance, Ziv | |||

Hi Ziv, NowSMS does not impose a limit. However, if you are using virtual COM ports for an IP connection, there may be a limit in Windows or in whatever software is being used to enable the virtual COM port. I don't know what those limits might be ... Windows will not have a problem with 10, but you should check the virtual COM port driver to see if it has limits in this area. You might also be interested in trying the direct IP Modem interface that NowSMS supports, which enables the need for a virtual COM port driver. (Note that this interface supports SMS only, no MMS.) The direct IP modem settings cannot be defined through the configuration user interface. Instead, you need to manually define the modem in the SMSGW.INI file. The key entries are this: [SMSGW] Modem1=IPModem - 192.168.101.86:5000 [IPModem - 192.168.101.86:5000] Username=admin Password=admin ReceiveSMS=Yes The "Modem1" (or "Modem2", "Modem3", etc.) setting defines the modem. It should be set to "IPModem - ip.address:port". You then define a section header for the modem within SMSGW.INI to define settings for the modem. The Username and Password settings define a username and password to login to the modem if authentication is enabled on the modem. (Many IP modems start with a prompt for a username or password. If your modem does not, just leave out these parameters.) Other settings can be set via the NowSMS configuration UI after the modems have been manually defined. -- Des NowSMS Support |
