Hi...
I use now sms and connect to smpp.

When I select "class 0" in the "send text message", what is the encoding type of message? 7 bit or 8 bit?

Hi Johnny,

Whatever text encoding is configured for the SMPP connection is also used for a class 0 message. (Under Advanced settings for the connection, there is a configuration setting for whether or not to use 7-bit encoding.)

There is a special override to use 7-bit encoding for long messages with a message class, even if 8-bit encoding is used for normal long messages. This setting is enabled by adding GSMPackLongSMSWithMessageClass=Yes under the [SMPP - server:port] section of SMSGW.INI.

However, there is no override for short messages with message class. They are always encoded using the default encoding specified in the configuration.

Our configuration is as follow

“Encode text message with 7-bit packed encoding” - disable
“Encode long text messages with 7-bit packed encoding" -- disable
But I add “GSMPackLongSMSWithMessageClass=Yes” under the [SMPP - server:port] section of SMSGW.INI.

At this case….
Normal text message less than 1page(selecting class 0) – 8-bit?
Long text message more 1page (selecting class 0)– 7-bit?

Yes.

There is currently no setting to 7-bit pack a class 0 message unless all text messages are 7-bit packed.

Are you sure your provider requires 7-bit packing on class 0 messages?
