Hi,

We are running v2011.06.20 and have a couple of odd issues, the day before the release of the new version (previous was 2011.02.16) we appear to have received 26,000 blank messages all to the same number but all the resulting BAD files with unique id's. These we found a couple of days ago 4 weeks later - I was under the impression they were auto deleted after a week or so?

Also we have been getting responses with no message id from http subissions (approx one every other day) the response is http status 200 with the following text:
<HTML> <HEAD><TITLE>Message Submitted</TITLE></HEAD> <BODY bgcolor=#cce8ff> <p> Message Submitted <p> <a href="javascript:history.back()">Continue</a> <p> <pre><small> </small></pre> <p> </BODY> </HTML>

What does this mean? has the message been sent or not? Seems it may coincide with a NowSMS restart(?)

Regards,

Rik

Hi Rik,

Regarding the .BAD files, what directory are they in?

Regarding the missing message ID, if there is no message ID in the response, the message was not submitted.

There are situations where we have seen this happen if a message submit is started during a shutdown request. But we have yet to change this handling to return an error response instead of 200 OK.

Are you doing a controlled shutdown during the time that this happens, or is NowSMS doing it itself? We seem to be fighting some automatic restart problems in recent interim releases. The 2011.06.20 release has one known problem in this area that is corrected in 2011.07.05.

However, another customer is reporting an increase in problems after upgrading from 2011.06.15 to 2011.07.05 (see http://support.nowsms.com/discus/messages/1/70375.html).

I am very concerned about any unexpected restart issues, so please advise if you are encountering any.

aha, we do restart the application daily and the majority of these no id responses happen at this time, but there are others that appear in the middle of the day which confused matters a little.

As for the BADs, they where stored in date named subfolders within the SMS-IN folder.

Cheers,

Rik

Hi Rik,

We do not clean up .BAD files in the SMS-IN directory. These are generated when there is an error response from the configured 2-way command script, and we are therefore hesitant to automatically delete them without knowing the cause of the error.

Regarding the middle of the day missing message ID, are there any recent entries in an EXCEPT.LOG file, which indicate abnormal restarts?
