Hi, I am using a Sony Ericcsson K770i - GSM Modem to send EMS picture messages and receive text messages to multiple users. I am running the trial version nowsms v2010.11.04. It should give me a speed of 30 messages per second, but it is taking almost a second for sending a message. There are no invalid serial numbers that I have used - only trial version. Is there a way I can increase the speed without compromising on the message sending quality? I am also making calls using the same phone.

Hi Aakar, A GSM modem is not capable of sending messages at a speed of 30 messages per second. 30 messages per minute would be considered a very good speed for a GSM modem, as it usually takes a modem 2 to 3 seconds to send a single message. -- Des NowSMS Support

Ok. But is there any way to increase the speed for a modem? It takes more far more time when a large number of messages are in queue. Also, I make calls from the same phone - does that affect the sending time?}

Can I increase the number of modems to two and expect an increase in the speed?

Yes, multiple modems will be processed for sending simultaneously, and provide increased speed. Making phone calls from the same device that is sending SMS messages, and expecting maximum SMS throughput is not realistic.

Thanks! So, in case of an EMS message - the Nokia Picture Message - which takes up three messages - there won't be any conflict as to different parts of the same three-part message being sent by different modems?

Hi Aakar, When NowSMS is routing multipart messages, it makes sure that only one modem (or SMSC connection) is used for all parts of that same message. -- Des NowSMS Support |
