Hello, Is there any chance to read a serial GPS stream, from the embedded java in a GSM phone, (like Siemens c55 or similar), to gain access to lat,lon and then process a SMS and send it?. Lets name the problems as A and B, where A is access serial data, and B is send SMS through j2me. thnks | |||

Hi Carlos, This is really outside of my area of expertise. You should be able to send/receive serial data from a J2ME application in order to interface with a GPS receiver. I've also seen that some phones have built-in GPS receivers and have their own proprietary J2ME interfaces. In particular, I've read about Motorola having this in some of their iDEN (e.g., Nextel in the US) phones. For sending SMS from J2ME, you're talking about JSR-120 (and eventually someday JSR-205 may supercede it). -bn | |||

Yep, Locative API. And Ulocate.com is certainly doing it. Carlos needs to check out motocoder and/or move to a more technopolar city. |
