Hi I use Now SMS 2013.07.13 I have received a email for CRITICAL MMSC UPDATE. So I have questions for MMS. Now SMS SMSC is connected to SMPP in our network. I usually send MMS from Now SMS to handset. When I send MMS using Now SMS to handset, Now SMS use MM1 or MM4 or MM7 protocol? I don’t activate MMSC VASP. When I activate MMSC VASP in the Now SMS/MMS Gateway, MM1 or MM4 or MM7 Protocol is used? MM1 or MM4 or MM7 is used without activating MMSC VASP? Now SMS 2013.07.13 also have problem for this issue? Thanks | |||

Hi Johnny,
Handset to/from MMSC is MM1. {When I activate MMSC VASP in the Now SMS/MMS Gateway, MM1 or MM4 or MM7 Protocol is used? } This is inbound connections to your MMSC from an application or another MMSC. The protocol used is determined by the other party (and for each defined account you specify what protocol is allowed). (For specialized situations, a handset can connect via a VASP account when you use /mm1/ in the server URL. Security cameras are sometimes configured this way.)
These protocols can also be used for outbound connections from your MMSC to an application or another MMSC.
This update is a precaution for situations where MM4 is used for an account defined under "MMSC VASP" or "MMSC Routing". From your description, it would not appear to be critical for your environment.
