Hi,

we are running NowSMS on a Windows 2008 R2 Server.

After a reboot of the server, NowSMS starts automatically, but the webservice is not reachabel from the network. This service is only reachable on the network after a local user logs into the system once.

Is there any way to fix this?

Best regards,
Christian

Hi Christian,

I remember someone else reporting a similar problem in the past, but I cannot recall the specific detail, and I a not finding anything in my search attempts.

What I do recall was that there was some sort of system issue. I remember being completely stumped for ideas, and I think a solution was found ... I just don't remember that part.

I would suggest enabling the SMSDEBUG.LOG.

Restart the server and wait a few minutes to login. Then look at SMSDEBUG.BAK and SMSDEBUG.LOG. Do either of those logs show entries from the missing time window?

I would expect SMSDEBUG.BAK to show activity from before the server restart, and SMSDEBUG.LOG showing activity after the restart. The question is whether any activity occurs at all before a user logs in? If not, this suggests that the Windows services manager is not starting the NowSMS service until the user logs in ... but I have no idea why that would or could happen.

I assume the server address is pingable after restart before a user logs in?
