Hi Usman,

The easiest thing to do is copy the entire NowSMS directory structure to the new server.

Depending on the version of NowSMS being run (and the version of Windows), the configuration files, data, and program files may be located in different locations.

The configuration files and data will be located in one of the following directories:

\ProgramData\NowSMS (Note: ProgramData is often a hidden directory)
\Program Files\NowSMS
\Program Files (x86)\NowSMS

Look for the file SMSGW.INI in these directories to determine which of these directories holds the configuration info. Then copy that directory (including all subdirectories) to the same location on the new system.

If SMSGW.INI was in \ProgramData\NowSMS, this means the program files are stored separately. Look for the program files (SMSGW.EXE) to be in one of the program file directories. Then copy that directory (including all subdirectories) to the same location on the new system.

Run SMSGW.EXE on the new server and it should see all of your configuration.

Note that NowSMS will be running in 30-day trial mode on the new system. You need a license code for the new system. If you are transferring the install from another system, you need to contact us (best to email nowsms@nowsms.com) and provide all of the following details:

- Company name
- Serial number and message count
- Installation Reference Code as reported by NowSMS on the new system

To get the Installation Reference Code on the new system, you need to run NowSMS on the new system. So you might want to do a trial run of the procedures I've outlined, just do not start the NowSMS services on the new system. The Installation Reference Code will be reported on the "Serial #" page.

The final step of the process, when you are ready to activate the new server is to check "run as service" in the "Service" tab of SMSGW.EXE to setup the services to run on the new machine, and create a shortcut on the desktop for SMSGW.EXE so that you can more easily access it.
